Welcome to
Ragspy Solid Ragdolls
Most of us understand the history of the Ragdoll breed, it’s mysteries, and it’s controversies however it is only by letters, articles and pedigrees that were found in the home of the Founder of the breed Ann Baker of Riverside California and by information supplied by a few of those early breeders that knew Ann, do we know what we do today.
These early documents state very clearly that the solid Ragdoll cat has always been present in the breed right from the earliest of documentations with a female from Josephine who had the appearance of a Burmese.
Solid and Mink Ragdolls have their place in the breeding of Ragdolls even though many classify them as “controversial”. They improve eye colour and type. A breeder in the US has managed to capture the solids from original early Ragdoll pedigrees tracing them right back to the original foundation cats.
A special feature of the Solid Ragdoll is that they must carry the colourpoint gene which can be proven by DNA testing and as such it is perfectly normal to have both Colourpoints and Solids in the same litter.
The most important issue to understand with the Solid Ragdoll; unlike that of the
Ragamuffin, is that they MUST conform to the three patterns of the Ragdoll, Colourpoint,
Mitted with or without the blaze and Bicolour. The only difference is that that the
Solids have eyes of green, copper, blue, blue-
As far as the standard of the Solid Ragdoll, it can be seen in black, blue, chocolate, lilac, white, red, cream, blue/cream, and seal tortie and any of these colours can be marked with the Lynx (tabby) gene, as well as smoke, shaded and silver. I must state again that the coat pattern must conform to that of the Traditional Ragdoll.
Solid ragdolls and Minks are purebred and SBT TICA registered. Some breeders and
Organisations still upon the Solids and Minks to be controversial however more and
more Ragdoll breeders are opening their hearts and minds to accepting the solids
and minks into their breeding programme. They are still the laid back Ragdolls that
are known today. They are often referred to as Non-
Here at Ragspy we have undertaken to breed the Solid Ragdoll. We currently have a couple of these very rare and beautiful babies available for adoption.
